Five of UAE’s leading wedding planners and stylers shared their recent tablescapes and centrepieces to inspire you.

As these challenging times affect the wedding planning of our brides and grooms, we feel now more than ever it is important to encourage wedding styling inspiration! This week we joined forces with the wonderful team at Weddings Online and reached out to some of the UAE wedding industry’s leading planners and stylers, to see their recent tablescapes and centrepieces.

Hannah Matthews of Couture Events Worldwide

Royal Blue & Opulent Gold

For this royal wedding in Oman, our team worked alongside Matthew Oliver Weddings in March this year for a royal wedding in Oman. For the overall look we mixed rectangular and round tables to create an interesting and diverse space. This concept also helps separate groups, which is what we are going to be focusing on with new regulations coming into place post-Covid-19. Smaller table numbers will be crucial from now on, so using three levels of plates will create consistency and substance. Also, smaller touches such as gold cutlery and bold colours for napkins and glassware will attract the eye and diminish any empty tablespace.

As many clients may likely feel more comfortable with an outdoor space next season, we are expecting to continue to create tables with overhead décor to encourage a more intimate environment. This may extend as far as an entire event ceiling décor made up of lights, fabric, greenery and/or flowers.

Romance Reflected

We believe the use of mirrors will play a bit part in the table setting this season, as the reflective surface will mirror centrepieces and table accessories, making the table look fuller and more extravagant, which will work well with reduced guest numbers.

As well as the usual mirror table designs, we are expecting to see mirror tops with intricate table linen designs underneath. Scattered floral centrepieces will enhance this look, as well as the use of layered plates with different textures. Once again, coloured napkins and small details will make all the difference.

The hanging chandeliers and lights created a warm and cosy atmosphere, which we may need to consider with social distancing in larger spaces for smaller groups.

Layered Luxury

Even though wedding numbers will likely need to reduce next season, we will still need to consider decorating a large space. Centrepieces will always play an important part of the design, and dramatic and beautiful, tall floral features will enhance the guest experience and general ambiance. Playing with linen patterns and textures will also help greatly to enrich the table setting.

As we have always enjoyed working with layers, we like to incorporate table ceiling décor and we are seeing this translate to 2020-2021 trends.

Natural Materials & Neutral tones

I truly believe that weddings will become a more intimate occasion that will not ever be taken for granted again. Focusing on details such as stationery, personalized notes, beautifully hand-crafted table decor and florals will all contribute to a more understated wedding for those getting married amidst the current restrictions. My typical clients usually opt for timeless tablescapes, focusing on florals and candles that don’t consume the wedding venue but add to it in a subtle romantic way.

I personally love this colour scheme of this wedding, and it’s proving very popular with new clients too. A dusty peach with neutral tones, with touches of blush work so beautifully together. I’m also obsessed with these cappuccino roses!

Land By The Sea

As the team at Palmera Design & Events become excited and ready for the cooler months in the UAE, we’re bringing back the soothingly warm, yet cool colours for an outdoor, sea-inspired set up by utilizing raw materials to bring the sea to the land…perfect for a beach reception set-up!

A nude and pastel colour palette is extremely popular right now, but it is also a timeless look. In this set-up the combination of soft pastel tones, concrete vases, rattan chargers, wooden furniture and antique gold elements, we have created a calmingly ethereal theme, which connects us to nature and the outdoor surroundings.

Arabian Love

This table set-up and centrepiece was inspired by our lovely Syrian couple, who wanted to portray their culture within the decor elements of the wedding. By using rattan, brass vases, wooden vintage chairs, fresh fruits and bold maroon florals, we’ve created an atmosphere that felt like home to them.

Integrating culture throughout the decor set up is something we love as it gives it a relatable personal touch for both the couple and the guests to enjoy. This will become increasingly popular we believe, as guest numbers are reduced, and so this is a lovely way to incorporate friends and family into the wedding who may not be able to attend.

Vintage French Dream

In this private beach side wedding, we managed to create a vintage theme with timeless florals and designs, combining the elegance of French design with the grandness of Emirati weddings. Touches of gold for royalty, wooden textures for an elegant antique look, and florals of only white and greenery create a classic design.

Love in Langkawi

Towards the end of 2019 we started to face more requests on low height centrepieces, due to the trend of putting more attention into guest’s comfort, which includes social communication during the wedding reception. More and more brides started to give priority to comfort and care of themselves and their guests rather than bulky decoration. Low height centrepieces do not block the eyesight, in this way couples create a more intimate atmosphere.

A vivid example of this style of centrepiece was at a wedding we styled in Langkawi. The centrepiece consisted of several vases which were of different height and shape, but in keeping with the theme.

Candlelit Dinner

For our Emirati brides and grooms we have seen a lean towards using more candles and candelabras in centrepieces, and we believe there are a few reasons for that. Safety precautions around the use of artificial flowers due to Covid-19 mean that these should not be used, and so alternatives are preferred.

Also, the pandemic has affected our clients. We should be mindful that not only our businesses (event management, hospitality, entertainment etc) have suffered economically, but also our brides and grooms, and candles and candelabras are a cost-effective way of creating drama on a centrepiece.

Putting on the Ritz!

We will always have those clients who want grand, luxury settings and decor for their wedding receptions, and the centrepieces play a large role in this. Here is an example of a more opulent, dramatic centrepiece which we had the pleasure of creating at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai… the perfect setting!

La Dolce Arabia

There is nothing greater than expressing yourself through every aspect of your wedding especially now more than ever before during these challenging times. Our theme “La Dolce Arabia” took guests onto a modern take of the Arabian theme with a 9m mirror tunnel, mirrored chandeliers, aerial musicians, mirrored belly dancers and much more. Our metallic silver and black hand painted centrepieces really stood out and harmonized the story of the evening with a unique and unusual approach.

The “O” Project

Welcome to The “O” Project, a unique take on a lush garden theme for your wedding. We wanted to create further intimacy at your wedding and decided to create two tables that would join together in the shape of an “O” with a lush centrepiece running the around centre of the tables. With social distancing here to stay, why not find interesting ways to integrate it within your design concept to give your guests a unique experience.
